Jiminella “Jinx” Sweetwater is a genius.
She’s a scholar, an inventor, hardworking and loyal, and well known in the scientific circles around the University in Prosper City.
Being smarter than everyone else might seem like a good thing, but it isn’t. At least, it isn’t to Jinx who has two friends, a small condo, and no life.
After a fight with her best friend Wilder, it just gets worse. Someone breaks into her home and when her parents show up in all their hippie-like glory, Jinx has had enough and escapes to a small village by the sea.
Suddenly, Jinx finds herself involved in village life, living with the unpleasant Mrs. Fratinelli and trying her best to juggle all the things that seem to end up on her plate. And then there’s calm, cool and gorgeous Dante – Snow’s boyfriend, who seems to see right through the shields Jinx has put up around herself, straight into her mind.
Sweet Water Birds of a Feather Book 2 eBook Lena North
Her name is Jiminella Nixée Sweetwater, but everyone calls her Jinx. She’s a genius. Her intelligence level can’t even be measured on the existing charts, so Jinx cheated on the test when she was just ten years old. By cheating she ‘became’ just a regular genius. Her parents are free spirits and they like to travel around. As a result Jinx has been living on her own since she was fourteen. She has developed multiple programs, which makes her a target for the wrong people. Lately their threats have become more dangerous. Everybody wants a piece of the genius, but what if they’re after something else as well? When a mysterious crystal is being found on the property of Jinx's best friend, Wilder, Jinx is asked to examine this stone. A lab is being set up in a small town, so Jinx can work from there. The people in this town leave her alone, but when she rescues a local everybody is more than grateful. It turns out that Jinx is not the only person who has special abilities. What will happen when Jinx gets closer to the truth?
Jinx is so incredibly smart, but she's also socially awkward. She's familiar with almost any kind of subject, but simply dancing at a party is a challenge. Jinx is sweet and loyal and she’ll go to the end of the world for the people she loves. She comes across as someone who knows everything about anything, but she is still so innocent in a lot of ways. Her mind is always in overdrive and this makes her physically ill. I loved her immediately and I was relieved that she finally dared to ask for help.
Sweet water is the second book in the Birds of a Feather series. I didn’t read the first book, but I had no trouble connecting to this story straight away. Jinx pulled me in from the start with her brilliant mind and kind character. Lena North has written a unique story with interesting twists and turns. I had a hard time putting this book down. Lena North 's writing is honest and real and I could easily sympathize with the main characters. I will absolutely read the rest of the books in this series.
Sweet water is a fascinating story about learning how to cope with being special. It's a great choice for readers who love books with smart main characters. Even though this is the second book in a series it can perfectly be read as a standalone.

Sweet Water Birds of a Feather Book 2 eBook Lena North Reviews
Jinx is a genius. She went to college at fourteen and holds a half dozen extremely valuable patents and an MD to boot. Unfortunately, her people skills leave a few things to be desired, and her friends have wasted no time in letting her know.
Jinx was involved in finding the mysterious crystal on her friend Wilder’s ranch a few months ago, and she’s promised to use her considerable scientific knowledge to help figure out what it is, but it’s killing her to do so. Her stomach’s burning, she’s exhausted, and she’s nearly bitten through her tongue in an effort to keep her mouth shut. She’s determined not to betray herself with statements the others will take as rude or conceited.
Jinx promised Wilder she’d stay for six months. As soon as the time’s up, though, she plans to get away to her house in the mountains. But when everything comes to a head at the ranch, Jinx insists on spending the rest of the six months in Marshes, away from her friends at the ranch and her colleagues at the University.
Feeling betrayed by her old friends and her own body, Jinx struggles to read the people around her and find her place in this new community. Will her life there continue on its downhill course or will this tiny, struggling town provide Jinx with the healing she so desperately needs?
Sweet Water is the second book in the Birds of a Feather series. Like the first book Wilder, Sweet Water sucked me in and didn’t let me go until I’d read it all. I read the whole thing the day it arrived. It’s got romance, a touch of the paranormal, and enough action and adventure to keep things exciting—a great YA read for a time you want to be carried away by a story.
Jiminella Nixée Sweetwater is a brilliant scientist, known for both her work and her difficult personality worldwide. A (now grown) child prodigy. And she's falling apart. Her agreement with Wilder (Book 1 in the Birds of a Feather Series by Lena North) has stretched her already overcommitted self, and none of her friends get this. Jinx, as she is known, uses this as the excuse she needs to find solitude at the private lab Wilder is having built, in the village of Marshes. A danger from her past returns, and strains her to the point of burning out. When she finally breaks, it is Dante who helps her through, despite Jinx's protestations. The entire village becomes friendly as Jinx begins to heal; to Jinx, without friends for most of her life, this is weird and confusingly wonderful. Her research begins to get results when her past catches up with her and endangers Dante and the entire village. I enjoyed this book in Lena North's series and really enjoyed Jinx's character changing as she develops in Sweet Water and furthers most of the other characters in Wilder in funny ways. How Jinx learns how not to fear Hawker, cracked me up. And Olly. Kind Olly, who's other name is Reaper. I am now anxious for the next book in series that comes out in June... Why does it have to be so long?
